Montgomery 17 with optional bronze
opening ports

M_17 with a side mounted boarding
ladder. This allows access to the boat
when its on the trailer and can be used
on the water as well. The ladder is
removable. Notice the standard windows.

We do optional colored hulls.
Grace is green.
This is the centerboard. It weighs about 50
pounds (lead filled). Notice the long run of
the keel. This keel holds 600 pounds of
pure lead. This is why the Montgomery
17 goes up wind so well. This is also why
the Montgomery 17 is self righting. This is
why the Montgomery 17 is so safe and
seaworthy. (in addition to its strong
construction). This is why the Montgomery
17 is so fast and why it wins races. The
keel centerboard arrangement of the
Montgomery boats is the best of both
worlds. The solid keel keeps the boat
up-right and the centerboard helps it go
upwind. The boat sails just fine without
even using the centerboard. Stay away
from pure centerboard boats and
daggerboard boats. These boats are
not safe, not self righting (in many cases)
and many have daggerboard trunk cracks
because when grounded they don't give
way. They just crack the bottom
of the boat.
